Great Texts Program
The Great Texts program offers an interdisciplinary major (and secondary major) and a minor in the Western intellectual heritage. Great Texts Majors give sustained thought to the greatest works of human intellectual and creative achievement. Seminar-style courses expand their intellectual horizons and teach writing and critical thinking skills vital for many careers and graduate programs. A minor in Great Texts, or a secondary major in Great Texts, complements most academic majors with a robust liberal arts curriculum. Students pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree will see the Great Texts major as a foundational study for any traditional humanities discipline, and students in the sciences will find this major to offer an opportunity to read broadly about the history of human thought, including the history of science.
