Admission Requirements

Admission to the Great Texts of the Western Tradition (GTX) major under the Bachelor of Philosophy (BPhil) degree is granted through the Elite Academic Program Application, which is available in a prospective student’s goBAYLOR account. Applicants are competitively evaluated on the basis of:

  • Responses to the essay questions on the Honors College application

  • Class rank and GPA

  • SAT/ACT/CLT scores, if available

Students who complete World Cultures I, World Cultures II, and Social World I (BIC 1314, BIC 1324, BIC 2330) in the Baylor Interdisciplinary Core may receive credit for GTX 2301 and GTX 2302 by petition.

All students pursuing the Great Texts of the Western Tradition (Bachelor of Philosophy) major are in the Honors Program and should, in discussion with their B.Phil. advisor, complete the requirements for the Honors Program graduation.
