Preaching/Worship (PRCH)
An exploration of both the theological and practical questions regarding the nature and practice of preaching. Attention is focused upon the preparation and delivery of sermons in light of the biblical text, the congregation, the culture and the faith experience of the preacher.
A continuation of the themes explored in Preaching I, with emphasis on the delivery of sermons. Each student prepares two sermons for delivery in class. The delivery and content of the sermons is analyzed by fellow students and the professor using individual appraisal forms These analyses are then the basis for group discussions. Video recordings are used to assist the student in improving communication skills.
An intensive examination of selected topics in homiletics. Course may be repeated for credit if the content varies. Maximum 9 hours credit.
