Accelerated Accounting (BBA) / Accounting (MAcc)
Admissions Requirements
Applicants must be Accounting majors and have a GPA of 3.25 or higher in the major prior to applying for the program. After completing their second semester of the Accounting Core classes (ACC 3302 and ACC 3304), all Accounting majors will be notified of the opportunity to apply to the Accelerated Program by the Graduate Program Director. (The GRE is not required for this accelerated degree program. However, other requirements for MAcc program applicants will be required for the accelerated degree program.)
Application and admission to the program is a 2-step process.
- Accelerated Program Application: submitted as directed by the Director of Graduate Accounting Programs based on undergraduate degree progress. If accepted, they are awarded provisional status in the accelerated program.
- Graduate Program Application: Submitted no later than during their third semester of the Accounting Core classes as a formal application for full admission into the MAcc program upon completion of their BBA.
Students should consult with the Director of Graduate Accounting Programs to determine the appropriate timing of actual enrollment in the Master of Accountancy program. Additional admissions requirements can be found under the Business School Admissions.
Undergraduate vs. Graduate Student Designations
Students in this accelerated degree program are categorized in the Baylor system as undergraduate students until their BBA graduation, regardless of any combination of UG- and GR-level courses completed. These students are designated as graduate students after their BBA graduation for the remainder of their program, or in their final semester, if they are completing both degrees simultaneously.
These distinctions (undergraduate student versus graduate student) will be linked to tuition, financial aid, and scholarship eligibility for each level. Accelerated degree students continuing in the BBA remain eligible for any financial aid or scholarships for which they qualify as an undergraduate student. When these students become graduate students, they lose their eligibility for undergraduate-level support, though they are eligible to apply for graduate-level scholarships and financial aid.
Please note that students needing more than eight semesters to complete the BBA (e.g., due to pursuing additional majors/minors) will need to apply to the graduate school and be accepted for a future term in order to be awarded graduate aid. The Director of Graduate Accounting programs will assist students with planning this transition based on individual needs.
Requirements for the Accelerated Accounting (BBA) >> Accounting (MAcc) Program
To earn the BBA and MACC degrees in Accounting via this accelerated pathway, a student must complete all basic requirements for the Accounting (BBA) degree as well as the Accounting (MAcc) degree.
A maximum of 9 hours of graduate-level course work will count towards both the UG and GR degrees.1

Students who are preparing for CPA licensure should refer to the disclosures by state. In order to meet the requirements for the 150 pathway(s) for CPA licensure in most states, students must reach 150 total hrs. (UG hrs. + GR hrs. - shared hrs. = total) in this program, and this standard will be applied to all students. Depending on course selections and timing of BBA graduation, some of these students may have room to share fewer than 9 hrs. to reach their 150 total. This will be monitored by the Director of Graduate Accounting Programs.

Unless otherwise petitioned, the first three courses taken from this list are shared by default. Many students take additional courses from this list to count towards the graduate degree only. Any courses not on this list must be petitioned for shared credit.
