Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (AC/PC-PNP DUAL TRACK), BSN to DNP Degree
The Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Dual track is a 75-credit hour graduate nursing curriculum which prepares registered nurses to deliver primary health care to clients ages birth to adolescence, focusing on patient-and-family centered care within the context of the family unit. Emphasis is placed on health promotion and disease prevention, in addition to management of acute and chronic illnesses. With an additional 14 credit hours, this dual specialty track also prepares registered nurses to deliver health care to pediatric clients with complex acute, critical, or chronic illness in the acute care setting. This is an online program with required on-campus and virtual immersions. There are additional immersions during the acute care trimesters. The program of study conforms to educational guidelines from the Texas Board of Nursing, the Essentials of Doctoral Education for Advanced Nursing Practice (AANC, 2021), the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF), and National Taskforce on Quality Nurse Practitioner Education (NTF, 2022). Graduates from the PNP AC/PC program are eligible to sit for the Pediatric Nursing Certification test offered by the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB)
